the trickiest parts are getting the angle of the exit pipe correct and shaping it so it fits the oval hole in the shroud.

good luck to anyone who gives it a go...

I should have a second system done for an MT09 soon that will be for sale, including the shroud.

Yes I totally agree with all of the above a really well done mod on a stock system, and especially with all the pics at every stage. Once I get my system I will try to keep you posted the best I can with pics. It will be similar to toasted blue's mod but not quite due to my having a stock MT-09 system modded to fit an MT-09, whereas his system was a stock MT-09 modified to fit a Tracer, so a lot more work involved.
Luckily I have local company nearby who specialises in custom made exhaust systems so I may well pay them a visit for some bits and pieces when the time comes, like the perforated tube and maybe a couple of tight bends and reducers if necessary?
I must admit I wasn't aware of the acousta-fil until I saw this thread, it looks like brilliant stuff, and far easier than trying to pack the old fibreglass insulation in there to take up the empty void.

Personally I really like the look of the stock exhaust it just sounds strangled, and this is an extremely cheap mod on this system, compared to all the other alternatives which are still most likely to be a better option, but I think this will do nicely thank you.
    How did it cost?

to make life a lot easier you can leave the stock exit pipe and just run 2" inside with a reducer. we did this on the 1st exhaust, it sounded great and still gave 5bhp gain

Yeah I intend to leave the exit pipe as is, but may increase size??? Unsure yet until I get started.

also, you have to Tig weld the externals or it will rust quite quickly, or you can use a Mig welder with stainless wire and Argon/CO2 mix gas, Argoshield or similar, which is what we did

I have a mig welder all be it a very basic one which is gas-less, so it's in noway suitable for this job. I will get it tig welded locally once I have things sorted out.

Ordered some 100mm x1mm cutting discs today suitable for various materials including stainless steel, also treated myself to a reciprocating air saw which will work fine with my air compressor and although I specifically bought it for this job it will be very handy for other jobs, should have bought one years ago I guess. I have also just been notified my exhaust has been dispatched today, so it's all happening here...................

    cautionary note:

if you buy a spare exhaust to modify make sure it's the correct one. Tracer and MT09 exhaust look the same but the shroud and shroud mounts are different. The MT09 exhaust fouls against the center stand on the Tracer but the Tracer exhaust will fit straight onto an MT09.
a member asked us to do this mod to his exhaust, bought what he was told is a Tracer exhaust, shipped it to us, only to find out it's not a Tracer exhaust, it's from an MT09.

I would certainly be interested in paying for this mod. I certainly don't have the skills to do this. I like the look of the original exhaust on my tracer but would like it sounding better without having to pay silly money for an akra etc
