    kriega bags

That set-up is all you need for touring solo. And the beauty is you can put it on your next bike. You don't need to buy new stuff. Just one question. What size is the bag on the rear seat, please? 20 or 30L?

    Chain life question

I have nearly 23,000 miles (37,000 km) on my Suzuki B-King chain. No sign of needing a new one yet.

    Touring on a mt09

As far as panniers go, they're quite stylish, but I think panniers are only necessary of you are taking a pillion.

    Air Hawk

I bought an Airhawk for my KTM 950Adv in 2005 and hated it. Whatever the amount of air I put in, I felt remote from the bike.

    Shad luggage

Yeah, looks okay. I prefer top loaders. I have a pair of Hepco & Becker Gobis sitting around in my garage which I used to have on a KTM 950 Adventure. The problem I have with hard luggage is all the scaffolding that comes with it. Still, I suppose it adds some rear crash protection.

MT10! Want one? Course you do

It's the triple engine that attracts me to this rage of Yamaha bikes. I've never had one. I've got an inline 4 already. It's the 09 for me.

    Europe trip

What is your luggage set up? I've spotted the Kriega packs. Two 10L packs, one of top of the other or two 20L ones?

    MT-09 lifespan

I've got admit I use fully synthetic oil, though, PaulG. If I had to leave it in longer than 6,000 miles (10,000 km), I wouldn't be concerned.

    SR

I prefer the standard MT. I don't like the plastic that runs along the bars or the side panels, to be honest.

Greeks on XT550 in the streets of Athens...

Nice. I used to have an XT500E which in 1984, I rode from England to Athens. A great bike, but I wouldn't fancy the kickstart now.

    MT-09 lifespan

Interesting thread. I have been riding motorbikes from 1971 and driving cars since 1974. I have always warmed the engine at standing for a minute, maybe less, and then kept the revs down to below half for between 5 miles (8 km) and 10 miles (16 km). The only vehicle I've taken to near 100,000...
