    Undulating drive

I recently had a similar problem with two seized links approx. 4" apart, I suspect they were positioned on the drive sprocket and had seized solid whilst the bike was not used during lockdown. I managed to get the links to free up using "Plus Gas" penetrating lubricant, I had to resort to using...

    Tyres

Michelin PR4's every time (also cheaper than PR5's) good in the wet or dry. They suit the MT0-9Abs and my riding style, i'm now on my 3rd set and get 10,000miles from a pair, can't complain at that. Nibor

Comfort seat option for 2020 MT09 SP UK

I've got a Shad seat fitted to my 2015 MT0-9Abs, it's "marginally" more comfortable than the standard seat. I ride solo these days and rarely ride more than 50 miles before stopping, so I can cope with the "sore bum" syndrome, I couldn't even ride 50 miles with the standard seat before bum ache.

MT09 SP engine light on, and no response from the bike when I attempt to start.

I'm on my 3rd switch now and it needs replacing yet again, I complained to my Yamaha dealer some time ago, and was told Yamaha wouldn't be interested in sorting the problem as "it's not a safety issue". I'm tempted to try the cleaning strip down method shown elsewhere on this site, but until...

Bike wont start and shows error code 5d--60

Bike sorted, dealer collected bike, error code erased and bike repaired within 48hrs. Bill for £81, can't complain at that, expensive (total £100) mistake. Be careful when fitting new battery and getting the terminals around the wrong way as I did, because the battery is symmetrical in shape...

Bike wont start and shows error code 5d--60

2015 MT0-9Abs I fitted a new YTZ10S Yuasa battery because the original was nearly 4 yrs old and the bike was lazy starting. Now the problem, the main 50amp fuse blew (red square shape fuse) when I accidentally reversed the battery terminals when fitting it. After fitting a new fuse all the...

    Rear Brake Pedal Adjustment ??

2015 MT 0-9 ABS. My rear brake pedal seems to be getting lower and I cannot see any way of adjusting it. The only adjustment that I can see associated with the brake pedal is for the purpose of adjusting the brake light switch free play. I suspect that the rear pads @ 13,000 miles are now...

    Sticking red engine start/stop switch.

I had every intention of contacting Yamaha customer services regarding this ongoing problem, but my dealer informs me that they wont be interested because it is not a safety issue. It appears we will have to live with it.

    Sticking red engine start/stop switch.

WD40, electrical contact lubricant, silicone sprays etc. we have tried them all, but unfortunately none of them work, because there is insufficient clearance for any lubricant to gain access under the red slide switch and into the internals of the switch where the problem lies. My dealer...

    Sticking red engine start/stop switch.

I would advise others with this same recurring problem to complain to their dealer as I have done, even if the bike is outside warranty. My dealer did this on my behalf and Yamaha have agreed to replace my switch FOC but I will have to pay for 30 mins. labour fitting charge. My dealer has...

    Sticking red engine start/stop switch.

2015 - MT0-9 abs. Replacement ignition switch fitted exactly one year ago and this one is "almost" as bad, apparently it is critical the switch is returned to the centre position after the engine starts otherwise the switch and solenoid burns out. This happened to a friend with his 2017 - MT...

    seat options to stay sane

The SHAD seat arrived Friday and I fitted it to the bike yesterday, can't wait for the better weather to try it out.. Just sitting on the bike the seat feels like there is quite an extra thickness of padding (compared to the standard seat) and it feels a lot firmer, just hope it does the job...

    seat options to stay sane

Hi tuxracer Just ordered the Shad seat that you suggested from Fast Bike Bits, it can only be an improvement over the standard seat that came with the bike. Thanks for the details. Nibor

    seat options to stay sane

donut Just looked at the Shad Seats site and their replacement seat for the MT 0-9 and it's very expensive @ £255, but it looks a quality piece of kit. I just wonder how much more comfortable is it compared to the standard seat, so reluctant to spend that much money only to find there is...

    seat options to stay sane

2015 MT0-9 Abs. Disappointed that the Yamaha comfort seat BS2-247CO-00-00 (@ £249 is only available for MT0-9 bikes of the following years 2016, 2017 & 2018 but not mine (2015). nibor

    Rattle from front forks.

2015 - MT 0-9 abs. I recently fitted a plastic fender extender to the front mudguard to keep the muck off the radiator, but have noticed a rattling noise which appears to come from the front forks area when riding over bumps in the road. I don't know if the noise is being amplified by the...

    Age

Hi Shaun 64. I agree the specified chain slack @ 5-15mm is far too tight and can damage the bearings / stretch the chain, and like you I always set the chain @ 25-30mm. Regarding the harshness of the MT0-9 engine, I think in my case I shouldn't really compare this bike which has a 3 cylinder...
