I took my hugger off yesterday to have a carbon fibre version made from the outline shape, and couldn't believe how long and tight the three black bolts were, that held it in place.

These three are steel and screw into the alloy of the swingarm and get a pounding with road water in our wet climate, so if they are tight now, imagine what they will be like after a full winter.

My tip of the day is take them out, smear the threads with a waterproof grease and tighten them back in, because if you dont catch these blighters now on newish bikes, you wont be a happy bunny when huggers become available and you can't undo them to fit your new purchase.

Sunday morning sermon over

(I'll report back when the carbon hugger is ready in a week or two.)

Good idea.
Same thing happened with chain adjuster bolts on my old dirt bike. Bit of preventative maintenance can save a lot of grief later.

Just done mine, they were no trouble to remove and refit. Also, thought I would remove the rear pillion pegs and refit, as some people have had trouble removing them. Again, no problems to remove, grease and refit
