So, how the heck do I remove the fuel warning sticker from the fuel tank without scratching the paintwork? Seems to be welded on.... Is it a case of getting the hairdryer on it first and then using Autoglym or something similar?

Yes mate Hair Drier will do it.
You probably wont need the Autoglym

On Honda I used a hair dryer, and old credit card is good to help dig off with out scratching, then some brake cleaner or denatured alcohol to get off any glue left.
Need to mine on mt its huge! But is the only one so that's good!

Boil the kettle, make yourself a cuppa, fill a plastic jug up with boiling water and sit it on the sticker, drink your cuppa, remove jug and peal off the sticker.

Came off very easy in one piece, with hair dryer on low, some sort of stretchy sticker no residue left!
