I took the opportunity of a business trip today to stick another couple of hundred miles on my MT and get it run in.
As it got to 1,001 miles I had the opportunity to get past a load of "back markers" so knocked it down into 3rd and grabbed a big handful.
HOLY CRAP! 3rd gear power wheelie. I did not expect that! :) :) :D

Pmsl. I'm just the same...
There's a "private bit of road" I go down on the way to work and most days I hack down it at about 130ish for a few miles then always pop it up goin across our massive depot car park before it's time to park her up in the works bike shed lol.

Ok, here comes the bombshell - how do you do powerwheelies? Do you just whack the throttle wide open while cruising in third gear? I've not lifted my front wheel once :D
But then again this is my first big bike and I'm more than reluctant to drop it while doing something stupid.

Not saying gonna go out and try doing them but curious how you all manage to do it. Also, how do you land? Do you just slowly release the throttle? Isn't there a risk to topple the bike back when accelerating rapidly?

ok im not going to recommend learning to wheelie on this bike as its not a good bike to learn on, its a good bike to do them once you know but not good if you have never done it, if your worried about landing mate then I would go on an off road day trail riding or doing some motox that way you will learn a lot of invaluable skills to help you on the road apart from doing wheelies, anyway basically if you do a wheelie right the bike will land itself with no problems, , a power wheelie is the easiest type of wheelie as it doesn't require a clutch up just give it a crack at the right time and up it pops, when I land a wheelie It comes down on its own just by decreasing the throttle and/or a light dab on the rear brake, but the brake method you have to know what your doing as it can slam down if your to harsh, all my off road bikes I have wheelied for as long as I want to because I know the balance point of the bike and once you get the balance point you can do nice slow wheelies that look more impressive and controlled, my advice would be to book a day on an enduro/motox course and try doing wheelies on there bikes as if u fall off it will be on dirt and you will have right gear on and eventually you will get that eureka moment, wheelieing is fun but learning on the mt I wouldn't advise if you have never done it before.

Thanks for the answer, fly!

I'm tempted to do things this summer. One would be to learn to wheelie here - Learn to wheelie at our wheelie school - Learn2Wheelie - Bring on the grin and the other one to do the trail bike riding Off The Kerb Trail Riding - Green Lane, Adventure Riding in Dorking Surrey. Probably in reverse order.

I passed my test with Off The Kerb and they were awesome. Mega friendly and always going the extra mile just to help you understand so hoping that their new trail biking is as fun.

Regarding wheelies, Baron Von Grumble did a day there, looks fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YFd3dGeJms

when you go off road ask the guys to teach you there as that wheelie school is only teaching you power wheelies, learn to do it slow and the fast ones are easier.

I had 175 mate on A plate (younger viewers ask your dad lol) Later type mono shock to yours, even had spare brand new ally tank ! wonder what that would be worth now ! Seized mine at 80 racing escort RS2000, knew it was serious when bits of piston fell out of the exhaust when my big bruv took it off....."can you fix it bruv, i begged ..... fuck off you prick.... i took that as no :(
