Have to admit after a long weekend in the Scottish Borders on some bouncy roads, found the centre stand hitting the road, I weigh 100kg and the wife 60kg but with the panniers and top box on that was the problem so looking for a solution !!
On my old 2015 Tracer I installed a pair of Piaa Horns which I was very impressed with so I finally got round to putting some on the GT I have had a few weeks now.
There need a bit more bracketry than the old Tracer did but still fit quite neatly under the lights and only use the standard wiring...
Yeah I have an old Garmin I use which is good enough and normally used a RAM mount on the handlebars but its really not a good position, have seen some mounts behind the screen but early ones vibrated too much so you couldn't read the sat nav screen on the go! Will have a look at the Yamaha one...
Turns out it only had 1600 miles on it so the sales guy was well pissed off !
Couple of photos from last weekend when it was sunny !
Also got a question, which RAM mount do you guys use that doesn't attach to the handlebars ?
Any recommendations ?
Well its a year ago I had to sell my 2015 Tracer due to financial reasons, but a year later I can now afford to come back into the Tracer fold but this time with a 2018 Tracer 900GT!
When the old bike went I compromised and got a CB650R on PCP as thats all I could afford, don't get me wrong it...
Time to get the old chain and Sprockets off over Christmas, had a Stealth on my Blackbird for a while to time to do the same on the Tracer.
Hopefully it all goes smoothly !!
Just replaced the original with a Nitron so if anyone needs an OE Shock with just over 8k miles on it (since 2015) then its for sale on Ebay for £80 but £60 on here plus postage.
I gave up on mine, too big, ended up with the Piaa Twin Horns that are much easier to fit and as loud as hell !
In fact if anyone wants a one piece Sound Bomb (which I bought but never fitted) can have it for £15 plus postage.
Aiming to upgrade the suspension on the Tracer before the weather improves.
So what has everyone gone for and do you also upgrade the front, and if so, with what ?
I know we could spend silly money doing this but just need some realistic prices, given the cost of the bike is relatively cheap...
Yeah just anywhere the bike touches the ground, also a bit under the front tyre where it sits on the ground when on the main stand. I know they dont like that stuff because we put scrunched up bits in the holes in the house where they can squeeze though so just stuffed them all with that, they...
Have the same problem, living in the country doesn't help but signs were when small nibbled pieces of the rubber insulation from the inside of the fairing on my Blackbird appeared in piles under the bike, its sat next to the Tracer. Tried all sorts of humane ways to get rid of them but it didn't...
Hi
Yeah the Givi Tanklock bag is ideal for the size of the bike, its 20L and just adds to the other luggage without marking the tank, well recommended.
Doesn't have the zip low down so not sure which one you looked at but this one also reduces in height if its not full with the adjustable zip.
Welcome to the club !
Had my Tracer for just over a year, my missus finds it great on the back and we've done lots of miles. I actually tried one of the Yamaha Comfort seats for a while but actually found the original seat much better ! It is the only bike I've ever had (and I've had a lot !)...
This is one of the few bikes I have had since I started riding in 1969 that has needed the least mods other than to 'make it mine'.
Had it just over a year (a 2015 used buy with 800 miles on it) now has 6500 on it and its one of the few bikes we have not changed the seat for, we both think its...
Well next week marks the 1st Anniversary of my purchase of my 2015 Tracer.
I got it with about 800 miles on the clock and I have clocked up another 4000 since then.
This is my first Yamaha, I have owned Hondas since 1970 (Still have a 1998 Blackbird) and have also tried a Triumph(955 Tiger)...
Yeah looks good and sounds a lot better with both on.
Finally managed to get a couple of photos, the muddy one is from underneath, bike's been cleaned now !!
:D
