    Need Help Broken front sprocket

If you don't have any local contacts, maybe try Yamaha Europe in Netherlands. When I had a problem with Yamaha France, they did at least respond, even if the outcome wasn't totally satisfactory (one reason I've gone off Yamaha to Kawasaki).

    Original seat

No, but I did acquire an OEM seat from a Street Rally (I think), which has thicker padding, at least at the front end for the rider. I've now sold the bike, with its original seat re-fitted, so the Street Rally one is available, if anyone's interested.

    Track tyres. What's your experience?

Another vote for Metzeler - I use M7RRs, but I'm sure the M9s are as good if not better. And they are good in the wet, too. Oops, just realised I posted much the same thing ages ago!

    Bar end weight

Does anyone need a spare one of these? From my 2015 model MT-09, but I believe it should fit any year (as well as the MT-10). The other one disappeared somewhere in Wiltshire, so I fitted an aftermarket pair. As photo - some scratching where it's contacted the shelving in my garage, and...

    2021 mt09sp 2nd gear detuned????

I've moticed on my 2015-model basic MT-09 that 2nd feels a bit weak, and the bike really surges forward when I change up to 3rd. So maybe 2nd gear de-tuning has been there all along?

UK based - modifications to handle bar height and possibly rear sets

I fitted MFW footrest lowering parts to another bike some time back. I think I got them from M&P. Because on the MT09 one of the pivot pins is riveted rather than held by a split pin you'll also need a new clevis pin to replace it.

    Mirror strip down

I had a look at mine today, and I think the answer is probably 'No'. My guess is that there's a bolt or nut behind the mirror glass, and I don't think I'd fancy removing that without damage.

MT09 center stand from the Tracer?

For info - I have recently got hold of a Tracer centre stand to put on my 2016 MT-09. You need the mounting plates as well as just the stand and spring. Also the standard (1st generation) exhaust with the heat shield doesn't give enough clearance, so you need to remove the heat shield and...

    Chain Lube

I've been using Wurth Synthetic Dry Lube for many years on several bikes. Generally gets a good rating in magazine tests. No fling at all, and I get good chain life. The only times I've moved away from that are in the depths of winter if there's a lot of salty water around, when I've found...

Comfort seat option for 2020 MT09 SP UK

I think I was wrong in the obove post - looking at photos of the XSR they show a shorter seat with a bit of a hump, which isn't the one I have. So i think it must be from one of the other derivative models that still uses a one-piece seat (i.e. not the Tracer), possibly the Street Tracker...

Comfort seat option for 2020 MT09 SP UK

I bought a seat that originally came from an XSR. It's thicker and more comfortable than the standard one, though the extra height is noticeable when you come to put a foot down. The previous owner of it (who had also acquired it as a comfort seat for a standard MT-09) was shorter than me and...

    Yamaha Engine Guards fitting instructions

Silly question, but have you asked the ebay seller?

    Question No throttle after bump.

A couple of years ago I started the bike up and although it started fine, it wouldn't respond to the throttle, it just sat on tickover. Turned the ignition off and on again and it was fine. I put it down to the fact that I'd hosed the bike down the previous day and maybe some water had got...

Which engine bars do you recommend

I've fitted Pyramid fender extenders to several bikes, no problem. The earlier ones used self-tapping screws, but more recently they've gone to plastic rivets, which are much neater.

Which engine bars do you recommend

I have SW-Motech on my 2015-model bike, and they are certainly very substantial. I've had Givi previously on other bikes and, as mentioned, they can be a pain to fit because they aren't always very accuraely made. Looking at the SW-Motech website there are two versions, with slightly different...

    190/50 section rear tyre

Well, the original post was a very long time ago, but here's the follow-up at last. I did fit the 190/50 rear tyre - a Dunlop Roadsmart 2, which was not noticeably wider than the OEM 180/55 Dunlop D214. I didn't notice any difference in handling, and no ABS errors, so presumably the tyre...

Question Pannier side and rear rack help

I know that's what Givi say, but I'm not sure of the reason. I've used Monolock boxes for over 10 years on several bikes, including my current MT-09. I got into the Monolock system with my Fazer6, which came with a Yamaha-badged 45-litre Givi box and carrier - in fact that's the box I still...

    riding two up.

Not a Yam, but the Kwak Ninja 650 might be worth a look, as it's low and light. I'm not sure how it would work for two-up touring, but it is similar power to the MT-07.

    Dash freeze

Not had that problem, but I did once have a situation where the bike started up fine but then wouldn't respond to the throttle - it just stayed on tickover. Like you, switching off and on again sorted it. In that case I'd washed the bike the day before (though not with a pressure washer), so I...

    riding two up.

Good luck with the Honda - it weighs a ton compared with the Yam, which is why it never made my shortlist.
