    Sprocket advice, JT or Afam?

JT are made in Thailand, AFAM are made in France. I've use DID chain and JT sprockets kit on my previous V-Strom as a cheap sollution. On my MT09 i have AFAM zst gold chain with the OEM sprockets since 27.000 km. The OEM DID chain is a cheap crap, the AFAM chain runs like new at 54.000 km that i...

    CCT failure AGAIN!

Mind that YAMAHA expands the warranty -especially for CCT of MT-09- at 5 years instead of the 2 years warranty which covers the whole bike in EU countries (maybe in UK too). Last year i've put the 3rd CCT (last version) allthough rarely it comes "noisy" too.. So i learn about warranty expansion...

    Jerky ride fixed

No,there isn't any fuel filter.. Mostly the matter is with fuel injection than dirt in injection bodies. Go for a synchronization and then... enjoy your mt-09 engine as never before.

    Jerky ride fixed

Our triple engines need fuel injectors synchronization at every 10K km service according manual. That is the correct way for a smooth engine running..

    Post your suspension settings here.

Your way of thinking is right Mike.. First gen mt09s (with preload only in R leg) are soft front and stiff rear, as the front fork springs pressing force is 75kg/cm when rear spring's is 105kg/cm. My weight is 68kg w/o gaer, and my bike's suspension became "equal" when i put a pair of ohlins...

Battery terminals different on new battery?

Standard Yasa YTZ-10S is weak for our triples.. last year i went for the stronger YTZ12S (which is stock battery of the FJR1300) as my dealer suggested and promise that will last. MT-09 has enough space for the "fat" YTZ12S when you take off a piece of sponge that is placed in battery's place...

    New seat

About a month ago i'm sitting on my new Yamaha flat vintage seat, which is offered in the special price of 58 euros.. (the seat costs 75 euros minus 25% customer's discount..) My first impresions after more than 1000km: it is more comfortable than the stock seat Its not slippery at all -instead...

    Does it need servicing?

When you say "service" i think you mean oil change, which is not nessesary for now. Enjoy your bike during srping and summer and then do an oil change before you "store" it for winter.. Allthough, talking about oil changes, my opinion is never let oil for more than 3K mi/5K km. Its the engine's...

What petrol do you use? injector cleaner additives?

I run regular in my mt-09 and premium in my subaru forester because of the 11,1:1 compression ratio. I agree that mt's engine runs sweater in premium but the avg mpg is about the same or worst sometimes (when you don't use the bike for some days the high-octane fuel seems like evaporating... The...

    2017 MT/FZ 09 Suspension settings for 100kg guy

Rear spring's preload at position -6- should be OK... -7- if you often carry a pilion. Front springs preload as less as your bike needed to sit equal front and rear when you sitting on the seat. Perhaps 2 rings showing or less.. Keep in mind that the std setting for rear spring is -4- for an...

Changing the CO settings in the DIAG menu

My previous CO settings were C1: +21, C2: +35, C3: -4. To do it properly you have first to do injector bodies work equal. Then you need a gas analyzer to get results. I' ve drill a small hole on each header (which i tapped with screws) just to get specific number from each cylinder. That's the...

Are 3 wheels better than 2?

Because most of the young "spirited" greek riders are loosing their lives in crash-accidents. Only a few lucky kids have the opportunity to learn about "sensible or safe riding" as students in a riding school and get practice lessons on a track.. Also there aren't nice tracks here except...

    Oil for MT 09 2017

I use BELRAY EXS 10w50... as it is better quality than Motul. Allthough Motul 5100 was fine in my DL 650 for 100K km, our triple engine needs the best for long lasting performance.

    Tyres

PR4 are the best on 36/42 psi.. they appear some differrences in pressure as the weather gets colder or warmer. For summer riding 36/42 is recommended.. when in winter some lower pressure could help the "warming-up" when the tyres seems "frozen". 36/42 also helps in long milleage and life of tyres.

Soon to be MT09 owner, intro and sprocket Q

This is not a good sign for a 2nd hand bike with 2200 miles on the clock... Ask your dealer the reasons of change and force him to put on bike the std sprockets before you buy it ! MT-09 is enough torquey to do easy wheelies in 2nd "long" gear without any effort. With an increased number of...

    fitting zx6r rear shock

The shock is stable. There is a few mm gap between the gas resevoir and the starter, as there is another gap between swing-arm's linkage and the bottom of the shock's spring.
