It was definitely the switch. It was already in the start position when I went start it!
Went straight down to my local dealer and left it with them anyway.
I am.
I enjoy riding all year. It's dark when I leave work and I expect to be able to see where I'm going. It's sh*te.
You shouldn't have to improve lighting on a brand new bike. Plus I don't like the look of auxiliary lights. Anyone surprised that Yamaha sell their own?
Hi.
I've got one of the flat seats to suit the MT09 on eBay if you're interested. Didn't appreciate the extra height and not being able to flat foot with it fitted...
Ooo... I went to School in Hornsea! Er... about 30 years ago!
So, the switch. There is a video online showing how to disassemble it. He goes on to explain about the amount of grease inside slowing the mechanism down and elsewhere someone has fitted a beefier spring... but when I took mine apart...
Hi.
Just signed up after finding some people here with the same issue as my bike!
Got my SP brand new in November. Haven't ridden it much over winter because the headlight is pants... and the starter switch has killed the relay with barely 200 miles on the clocks!
:)
So, yeah. Hi!
@Kcolo ...Hi. You might find the problem is actually the starter switch sticking as you start it. The switch might not return to the run position straight away which means the starter relay stays energised. Mine's done it. I've freed up the switch but the relay is dead. I've seen videos online...
Hi. New guy here!
My SP has done the same thing. The starter solenoid is burnt out because the starter switch stuck in the 'start' position. Can hear it click but the contact isn't made for the starter current to pass through.
My bike has only done 182 miles!
