The Air Intake Temperature Sensor in its stock location is subject to unwanted heat from both the radiator and engine when stationary for any length of time or in slow moving traffic. You can easily verify this yourself by checking the ambient temperature readout on the dash.
This ECU constantly adjusts the ignition/fuelling after analysing data supplied from the various sensors located around the bike. Unfortunately when higher than actual temperature information is supplied by the AITS, lower than optimal fuelling is the result. Moving the sensor to where it is better isolated from rising heat (as shown in photo) solves this problem.
On my last bike this involved making a 14" extension lead to relocate the sensor, here the original wiring is of sufficient length :)

I have seen this sensor, but cant remember where the stock location is....
It clips into that rectangular hole about 2" from where it's currently situated but rotated through 90* - its new position is incompatible with the horn relocation mod ;)
