Hi folks,

Thought id join after seeing some good fault finding tips. Recently had my own problem with a crank sensor fault which I've figured out to be a problem with the spring inside the starter switch mechanism. Hope to not find anymore Issues and enjoy riding again!

I had a new starter solenoid replaced under warranty but it was probably due to this. Seen a good youtube vid on how to sort the small internal spring

Yeah I had the same problem too. I followed this YouTube video to clean the starter mechanism and it's now working fine again

A friend of mine who is not on here had a sticky starter switch on his 2017 mt09 and inadvertently burnt out his starter solenoid.
He bought a genuine Yamaha one on Ebay and it fixed the problem, out of interest he also bought a pattern part also from eBay for £18.
He swapped them over to check the pattern one also worked, it did start the bike as expected but every time the starter was released the bike stalled.
He said he made sure the starter wasn't going up to the Stop position.
Refitted the genuine one and all his good.
He's contacted the seller and has returned it for testing.
I can only suspect a faulty unit ?
I'll keep you posted as to the outcome.
