HI everyone, had my MT-09 (race blue) for just over a week now and love it :D

It was an ex demo but it was only used by the garage staff to run around on so only had 500 miles on the clock. After a week i have took it up to over 1000. Has a few extras such as a Akra TI exhaust, radiator guard and just put on a Smoto screen.

I am planning on designing a replacement baffle for the Akra exhaust. Basically i want it louder without being too loud and without having to butcher the original baffle, also want a bit of flame :p . I have come up against the problem of the baffle screw been off centre from the hole in the exhaust outer casing, so it catches. I'm guessing that will be a drill out job but if that's the only problem i come across I'm more then happy.

Anyway look forward to getting into this forum and no doubt asking many questions :p

Welcome to the forum, I've just traded my Mk1 Race Blu MT09 for a Lava Red MT09 Tracer. I'm in Chopwell so not far away, photo taken at the Derwent Reservoir.

Regards
Alan

Hi Alan,
I'm curious, did you have any performance mods on your regular MT and what difference (if any) do you notice riding your Tracie?

Cheers, Fluke

I had the full Akropovic fitted to the MT09 and it sounded fantastic with the modified baffle. My plan was to fit it onto the Tracer but on my last run out from Moffatt along to St Mary's Loch I managed to hit a large stone on the road which was thrown up and crushed quite badly one of the downpipes. Otherwise no other mods. I never had my MT09 remapped I loved the aggressive throttle response in A mode, you could really tell the difference between A mode and Standard, it's not that noticeable on the Tracer. The MT09 is an absolute hooligan machine, the Tracer is it's more grown up big brother. The seat on the Tracer is slightly more comfortable than the MT09 although I have tried a seat modified by Saddlecraft in South Shields Saddle Craft -- The Real Specialists In Motorcycle Seating. and it did feel much better, think it cost £90 and was much better than the Yamaha Comfort seats, I had one fitted to my MT09 and it wasn't much better than the original. I think I am going to have the ecu flashed on my XT1200Z Super Tenere but don't really think the Tracer needs anymore. I do find the ride a little bit harsh on the Tracer although the handling is overall superb, had a run in with a Caterham yesterday on a really twisty bumpy road and it was great fun, think the MT09 would have got a little bit more out of shape.
Cheers
Alan

Good to see another member up here in the north east. Nice MT, did you buy it from Ian Bells by any chance as they had an identical bike in stock? I can see north east ride out next season!

I got the bike from Tillstons in Stockton. I did go to see a 0 miles orange one but this one was in the corner. Done 600 miles ex demo, was getting serviced the next day so £80 i didn't have to fork out and had a £50 rad guard. Also orange would have clashed with my hair :p The exhaust i find too quiet when baffled and too loud with it our, i do have my new design of baffle getting machined as we speak so we will see if it's any good.

If anyone is interested i do i a youtube channel which i did a few MT 09 reviews:

I was talking to Dave at Tillston about that bike, the one with the Titanium Akro, but ended up at Motorcycle Mart who offered at better deal and a better price on the part ex too.
