wine from engine

can any one tell me what the inter mitten whine is from the engine on tick over. have not had bike long. i did hear it on the demo bike i tried before i bought this one. it sounds as though it comes from the clutch housing. many thanks for any imfo

From previous experience riding a street triple round the whine is caused by straight cut gears, weather it's the same for the MT i'm not sure. one thing i know is that it's a lot quieter than the ST. I love the sound of the MT.

Also, There is a slight whistle sound too and i believe it's the air induction. The engine rapidly sucking in air through a relatively narrow port. I stand to corrected on any of my replies though as i'm by no means an expert!

I love it when you speed up and it starts to whine like the old BTCC cars.

I'd assume it is straight cut gears (as that is what made the BTCC cars whine) but I'm not sure.
