Depends on what your mens by whiney? My engine sounds completely different from cold to hot but it's very hard to describe the sound actually. Been in the engine since I got it so all good I presume. Does it go away when you pull in the clutch?

WD40 will stop the white tarnishing from turning to full on corrosion. Toothbrush and and couple of applications will remove it all if you get it quick enough.
Not the best picture I must admit but it was pitch dark when i took them. Also I just washed the bike so the rusty bit at the weld just looks like dark dirt as it's wet. You can see where it's rusting though, It's bright orange rust when it's dry. Warranty time!!!
Been there and done that myself. Best advice I can give you is get back in the saddle straight away and don't let anything linger in the mind about it. The longer you leave it the worse is gets.
I'll try take some tomorrow. Actually going into the dealer to replace the soft tensioner blocks. They ordered them under warranty for me. I'll will have a chat about the shock with them too while I'm in there. I'll post a few pic after that.
I change the mode all the time while riding but this has never happened to me thank god. I'd probably fill my trousers with brown goo! I find the buttons a bit awkward alright especially the horn, forever hitting the indicators when going for the horn.
