After coming back from a 120 mile rain sodden ride to the ponderosa at Llangollen I decided to swill the crap off my bike.
I was gutted to notice a wavy crease on my tank coming from under the trim below my left hand handlebar.
I called the dealer and took it for them so see this evening. On inspecting it we found all their stock had the same disformity.
It is doing my head in every time a light shines on it. I love the bike but Yamaha should have been on top of the quality control. The dealer said they would contact Yamaha but don't know what they can do if they are all the same.
I am a engineer and a bit of a perfectionist. If I had made the tank I would have scrapped it and made it properly.

Is it really that important or bad?
You're shouldn't be looking on the tank - you should be looking on the road where you're riding.
Use the bike to ride, not to kick tyres and stare at it (your mum should have taught you not to stare ;) )

Expected the finish to be better. I am a bit of a perfectionist and it is a shame. A couple of mins when it was produced could have had it perfect. Now I know its there its pissing me off.

I've read about a similar issue on a French forum. It seems that some random batches are impacted. I agree that Yamaha should do something for affected customers. A gesture of goodwill would be much appreciated for them.

Hey everybody needs a dream,lol,

To be honest I think you would struggle to see it with a pic because it is that small.
If I can figure it out I will try and post one for ya though.

Cheers daps

Hola,
Well I tried to take some pics of the slight indent in the tank but it is that slight that you could not see it in any of the pics.

Cheers daps

Is this what you guys are talking about.

Thought it was some kind of fixing for the tank trim as it is very symmetrical.
