Yea, others have highlighted that it is likely I misread the gauge (I had just got to work and was in a dark car park - but could have sworn I saw a bubble in a clearish liquid (i.e fresh oil) and then black at the bottom. But does seem unlikely as there is nothing else but coolant to leak in...

Wow.. I am always telling my lady about the mods I want for my bike. The most I have got is a glazed look and being told to shut up. Birthday is coming up though - I live in hope.

I would try BikeSure - They seem quite good at providing unusual insurance (i.e racing, track days, custom builds, extreme modification) that other insurers might not touch. Not sure if it will help in your case but worth a go.
