The problem seems to be with the courier that delivers the bikes to dealers.
The Yamaha database will tell the dealer that a specific model and colour will be delivered on such a date and you would think that determines what the courier delivers.
My advice. Don't put an order or deposit on any...
Thanks for expanding on the need for an allen key and photo's.
There's no mention of removing footrests in the manual - oddly enough!
I'll have another look and reassess the job!
Thanks for your help.

I had the same delivery issues until the senior salesman at the dealership got to grips with the problem; mind you that might have been me threatening to cancel the order that done the trick!
To date, I have had no reply from Yamaha HQ which smacks of poor customer relations to say the least.
Dealership details withheld to protect the innocent (maybe!).

Yamaha MT 09 – XXL17 XXX
Dealer – XXXX.........
Dear Yamaha UK,
I purchased a new MT 09 on 06 May 17.
It has just...
I thought I would bump the rear shock up to level 5.
Attacked it from all angles with the adjuster and short of dismantling 3 cables on the right hand side I couldn't get the darn tool secured to turn it up to 5.
Too much attention to a 'tidy' tail and no attention to the hapless owner who might...
The bumps in the road could be smoothed out by the councils surely?
Make the track as flat and as grippy as posssible?
It would be nigh on impossible to eliminate the curbs, lamposts, walls, houses, hedgerows and other static immovable objects but cancel the whole event - unthinkable...
So, as long as it passes an emission test between 2500 & 4000, it can churn out as many pollutants as it likes after 4,000 rpm?
Thank f*** we're leaving the EU then, no more Euro 5 nightmares to contend with?!
The bikes not quite uncontrollable, but it's not very pleasant spluttering and...
Between TPS sensor and closed and open loop fuelling systems my head's now hurting trying to contemplate it all...
The service guy did check my ECU and whatever other diagnostic stuff they do and was able to tell me that I had stalled the bike once!
Everything else was 'normal' and I didn't give...
Tommy,
Nowts gonna happen unless we complain in droves?!
They'll be a fix if you mention safety?
Spluttering coughing and ' surging' along can hardly leave you in control?
Paul
Seadoc,
Thanks for even further insight into my fuelling issues.
Look, you and many others may be happy to throw hundreds of pounds (or NZ dollars!) at reflashes and reverse reflashes to your ECU' s, however I'm a Scotsman and tight with my money (!) and I've just bought a brand new bike so...
LittleBruv,
Cheers buddy, I've just discovered the technical term for my fuelling issues - low speed surging.
What an absolute farce this Euro 4 mallarky is.
How can any manufacturer churn out a motorcycle that "surges" and splutters between 2,500 & 4,000 rpm?
Heading over to Edinburgh...
Stuggesjoerd,
An option post-warranty on the understanding that your insurance would probably be invalidated for such a modification?
It would be nice, mind you, to see if the MT 09 would do an indicated 170 mph in sixth year on an autobahn near you?!
Paul
Thanks for your advice Kinjane.
I shall go to my dealer this weekend for the 600 mile service and if they don't sort this problem out then I shall write to Yamaha direct as this fuelling issue is making the whole new bike experience rather unpleasant.
I have just tried a tankfull of the higher...
