I'm currently riding fz6 and have booked my mt09. Gonna collect it next wk. So I'm wondering how different isit in term of the fender length compare to my fz6 as it looks kinda abt the same from wat I see online. Isit shorter than my fz6 fender.? Any feedback?
Is front fender extender a need.?

water, dirt, rocks, mud etc will hit up to half way up the radiator on the mt09 with the standard fender from my experience

Spot on, i've never had a fenda extenda fitted to any other bike, but i fitted it to this and the results are very good .
Nothing kicked up by the front wheel will reach the radiator with one fitted.
Highly recommended mod, and cheap too.
