Hmm, quite a nice upgrade!
The aesthetics don't do a lot for me although the rear numberplate hanger/mudguard was always needed.
I am mainly impressed the quickshifter and slipper clutch is now standard, and they've added compression damping to the forks.
And they improved the seat! So to me it...
Hmmm ... SHAD, makes me SAD at 240 quid! And no guarantee it will fix the problem.
I'll get a spare seat off somewhere and see what I can do for under 100 pounds ...
I think I read somewhere that the Tracer seat won't fit to the MT-09, so I'll duck that route
Now this is not something I've seen anyone else write about so maybe it's just me.....
I find that when sitting back in the wider part of the seat I inevitably get tilted forward a bit after some time which gets quite uncomfortable as it pushes me onto the gentlemen's area too much over an hour...
I just fitted Pilot Pures and went for a quick 400 mile ride to run them in.
Barely looked used at the end of the day - most of the new tyre "ticklers" were still there! On everything else I used, they've gone within a hundred miles!
Felt fine but I have not stressed or really tested them yet...
Welcome to MT-09 ownership!
6th gear whine is normal, apparently the way the gears are cut or some such (inside the engine is all black magic to me!). I was a little worried until after reading forums - various whines and noises seem to be de rigueur on this bike.
However my gearbox (2000 miles...
Yeah I was thinking they could only blame a bad oil change by a third party, that's why I was asking if Yamaha had done all oil changes

I hope you can get this fixed by Yamaha for free - warranty period or not, pieces coming loose inside the the engine is a manufacturing or servicing fault.
Was it serviced exclusively by a Yamaha dealer to date?
Overall very nice, probably best looking system I've seen. Still a fan of the Spark high level too.
Does look like collector could have been pulled tighter in the area under the engine. Aggressive riding might find some clearance issues. I bet it rules out any kind of bellypan too.
Are you happy you have the left side lock nut and adjuster tight when you put some of the torque on the single nut?
What I mean is I would get it adjusted, tighten spindle a little then recheck adjusters are firmly in place before torquing it up the rest.
But that is in general, I got the Gilles...
Welcome, almost anything is a trade up for a MT09. Never thought I'd say that until I spent a day on it.
What are trying to swap? I have a TRX which is like a race version of the TDM you mention and it is great but still blown out of the water by that engine in the MT09. Mother of god it's a beauty!
