The top does not undo, its actually a stud and a spring which cannot be accessed unless you remove the glass. Not recommended!
so the more you wind the nut the harder the ball is pushed into the socket.

Yepp I have a set, seem fine to me and very easy to get an accurate wheel adjustment, better then the stock adjusters anyhow, and the look pretty as well especially in blue.

I don't believe so, I had the same issue on myZ1000SX, and the GTR1400 which ended in complete bearing failure at around 17000 miles

90 mm over bed and about 400mm ish between centres, however I have only done smaller stuff up to about 50mm Dia. however headstock pass thru is only 20mm

OK looks good, I use Autodesk Inventor, Same company who make fusion 360, In fact a lot of the fusion stuff is used in Inventor. watch this space I might dump the lot on you.
