Evening All
I have just been trying to change the fork oil on my Tracer. Starting with the right hand leg the manual states 431 ml of oil should equate height of 175 mm.
As I did not completely strip the fork just removed the cap, spacer and spring I knew it would not take the full 431 ml. I...
I generally do quickish road riding, by my own admission I am no hero but I do get to the edge of the tyre. I only do wet weather riding when caught out which is unavoidale in the North East and Scotland! The PR4s were brilliant but I think the Roadtecs have the edge.
Cheers Michael
I like my Tracer and plan on keeping it for a few years yet so I thought it might be worth while doing some suspension upgrades.
The original suspension is okay at present but does not have the ride quality of some of my other bikes and it will deteriorate with age ( A bit like me.).
Has...
36F/36R tyre pressures for the road even with the wife on the back. I am 14st and she's 8st. Always give your tyres a few files to warm up.
The original Dunlop 214s were average at best. Michelin Pilot Road 4s are very good. I had to change mine because of a puncture and got some of the...
PR4s are good. My rear tyre was worn and I would have fitted another PR4 rear however an unrepairable front puncture meant a new set so I went for the new Metzler Roadtec 01. It's a sports touring tyre like the PR4 with that racing wet tread pattern and every bit as good which is praise...
Deviating a bit off topic I didn't like the standard hand guards and didn't think they achieved much so was looking for some alternatives. Katana Al very kindly let me try his 1200 Tenere ones, but they are costly new and would have needed cutting. Bought some KTM ones, £44 new. They have to...
I get between 52 and 60 mpg, I don't do any commuting, always on rides out. I am very impressed, I have never had a bike do better than 42 mpg for years.
The worst I had was my RD350 YPVS doing 26mpg on one ride!
I've got my Oxford 46(?) litre top box on mine, the size that takes two helmets. Used it with the panniers as well with no problems. Yamaha suggest you don't do this. Manufacturers have to guard against the idiots for fear of being sued in this nanny state we live in. Just use some common...
Hi
Has anyone fitted different hand guards to their Tracer, if so what do you have and are they any good? I am not fussed on the look of the originals however I have bad circulation in my hands and want something more effective at keeping the wind off. All of the alternatives I have seen only...
Ronnie the salesman Ian Bells the Yamaha dealer in Bedlington, Northumberland, told me Yamaha were going to change their policy of no labour charge on the first service but they were going to continue not to charge for labour.
They charged me a reasonable £38 for the oil filter and Motul Semi...
