How to post pics...an imbeciles guide

First up , i am the imbecile ! Finally sussed how to scan my photos...my stupid Kodak printer not compatible with windows 8..so using my old steam powered windows xp . Problem is my pics are too big ( all the ladies tell me this) how do i err...shrink them ? All replies in laymans terms please !

To shrink using MS Paint you just open a picture in paint, click top line where it says image and then click the resize and skew. Pick your percentage let it do the shrinking and then save as.

That's how I do it for most stuff on the laptop. Dropbox does it different on my tablet though.

yup it took me a few years of cursing photobucket and other sites till i came across the resize thing on my ms paint. i shrink everything to 800x600. however, we cant send pics in pm by using 'basic' and selecting 'browse files'...........anyone know a way round that without that 'url' b/s?
