Rectifier Position

Looking round an MT in the showroom the other week, I was amazed to see the rectifier in a cut out above the rear wheel.

Now, I know they need cooling and that Yamaha have obviously designed it this way, but is it really a good idea to have it where it'll just get a good soaking every time it rains?

I was always under the impression that these are sensitive (and expensive) bits of kit...

As long as the connectors are protected from water,having the rectifier/regulator there is fine.
