Some of you guys seem very anal about running in, I was always taught don't labour it and don't rev the nuts out of it for prolonged periods, otherwise use it normally. There is an old school of thought that engines nursed through the "running in" period end up burning oil and having low compressions due to bore glaze.
Very true. Golden rule, make sure the engine's hot before opening it up & don't strain it.

Do they have to get their first service only after 1000kms/600 miles or, if you don't clock that up in the first month, do you have to have your first service regardless?
I could be remembering incorrectly but have have this niggling memory when I left the dealer, of him saying see you at the first service in 1000kms or a month, whichever happens first.
But I see nothing about this on this forum or in the literature.
Thanks guys.

I believe it's 600miles. IMO no point having a service after a month if you've not done enough miles.
