Well... I just noticed a few times it's possible, so I'm asking about experience...
officially 190 tyres are compatible with 5,5-6 inch rims, so why not? beter contact patch, more surface area to peel, and (in my opinion) looks better, more mighty and dignified ;)

Looking at my bike with its OEM Dunlops there doesn't seem to be enough clearance to fit a wider tyre.

I know that widths vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, for example a 180/55 PR4 is narrower than my Dunlop. So I guess some tyres with a nominal 190-section might squeeze in. But I wouldn't want to spend £100-odd to take the chance.

Anyone tried Roadsmart 3's?

Just curious, PR4's the best tyre I've had so had, fitted 2 sets on my previous bike and will probably fit again on the Tracer but saw feedback on the RS3's that said they're better in the wet etc?

I am using Michelin Pilot Power 3.

Ride in both Sun and Rain in the topics, great tyres, no issues after 4000km. Have ridden to both the edges of the tyre, no chicken strips thanks.

Wear is OK.

I used to run Diablo Supercorsa's on my old Street Triple R, another great tyre but not as confident as the PP3 in the rain.

Cheers

The big plus with all the latest sport touring tyres is how good they are at riding in the wet but if you are like me and only ride in the rain if you are caught in it then you dont need a tyre that excels in wet riding you just need a tyre that grips well in the dry and lasts longer than sports tyres, ive been using michelin pilot road 2s for the last 8-9000 miles on my last bike and rate them highly for dry grip much better than pilot road 3s which ive done 10.000 miles on,Angel GTs 4000 miles on latest version, the pilot road 2s realy are a excellent tyre for dry grip wear much better than pilot road 3s and are still good in the wet but not upto pilot road 3-4 wet grip but still good plus they are £170-175 fitted to loose wheels at my local bike tyre shop.

I run PR4's on my MT, the grip is quite good as I can keep up with and most times go harder my mate who has Battleaxes on his GSXS1000 and can give another mate on his Daytona 675R with Diablo Corssa's a hurry up too, but that could also be partly me hahaha

Well I have decided to go with the rosso 3s . Had a think about it and took into account what everyone has been saying. I don't really ride in the wet unless caught out and as I'm am quite fresh to riding then why not try them all. Planning on trying the pr4s on my next set

PR4s are good. My rear tyre was worn and I would have fitted another PR4 rear however an unrepairable front puncture meant a new set so I went for the new Metzler Roadtec 01. It's a sports touring tyre like the PR4 with that racing wet tread pattern and every bit as good which is praise indeed.

Scrubbed in quickly and is massively confidence inspiring. Good turn in and proved to be very stable even on a recent trip to the NW200 fully loaded with luggage. For the first time in years the NW200 was dry so I have only had one wet ride on them and again they were excellent. I would definitely recommend them.

Put pilot 4s on 2 weeks wobbles all over the place, been back to dealers twice to rebalance etc, still no good today they took off my screen and folded my mirrors in and said it was a bit better. Not solved yet they are going to contact Yamaha and tyre company. I have just noticed I have standard on the front and a GT on the rear, could this be the problem.

GT is a very stiff carcase. Is it recommended for the MT?

so at 4,200 miles I have finally got rid of the OE Dunlops on my Tracer and replaced them with PR4's. Even on the short ride home in damp conditions the improvement is dramatic, I should have done it sooner.

I had no complaints about the grip of the stock Dunlops, but the rear was worn out at 2100 miles. Fitted a pair of PR4's, on which I've ridden 5,500 miles, and the rear is still not squared off. I'd guess I'll get another 1,000-1,500 miles out of the rear, more from the front. Excellent tyres.

I just fitted Pilot Pures and went for a quick 400 mile ride to run them in.
Barely looked used at the end of the day - most of the new tyre "ticklers" were still there! On everything else I used, they've gone within a hundred miles!

Felt fine but I have not stressed or really tested them yet at lean angle...

PR4's , but really any top brand should be fine. I would be surprised if there are many that can actually ride a modern tyre and know what the limit is just before they fall off.
The older I get the faster I was.:p
