I happen to have a new 190/50 Dunlop Roadsmart 2, which I got for another bike that I've since got rid of, and I was wondering if it might fit the MT-09.
Looking at the OEM Dunlop 214 180/55 rear tyre there doesn't seem to be a lot of clearance to fit a wider one, so initially I thought probably not. But when I did some measurements, the tyre that's on there, nominally 180 wide, actually is 190. So I reckon the one I've got in stock, which also measures 190 unfitted, would be OK.
Right, I know that a fatter rear tyre should, in theory, give slower handling. But in fact, the one I'm proposing to fit doesn't seem to be any wider, so I think I'll go ahead when the OEM tyre is worn out (which, being a Yorkshireman, means at least down to the TWI's).
But in the meantime, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has already tried a 190 back tyre?
