How are you guys cleaning your chains and what with? And what lube are you using after?

Oh and also how can I reduce the amount of lube that gets flung all over the place all over my nice clean bike?

I'm using a Tutoro automatic oiler, easy fit and seems to do the job with no fling or fuss.

I've never had an oiler, never really thought about it is I do very little miles on the road bike and never in the wet.

It's just laziness. It avoids me having to think about it. Top up the little chamber every 500 miles or so. Let me know if you want photos.

I will be using Scottoil applied with a brush until I use up the stock I have.

Apply lube little and not too often to stop it flinging.

Oilers are quite popular then, might look in to that but in the mean time I'll pick up some lube.

I like the muc off , as long as you let it cling on also get the chain a bit warm first go round the block then apply then leave will give minimal fling .

WD40 is perfectly safe for cleaning an o-ring chain. about the only thing that will attack the o-rings is brake fluid.

no it doesn't. ever. WD40 is perfectly safe for cleaning an o-ring chain.

Am lead to believe diffrent and seen proof of what it dose to rybber and am not Gona start a argument over it am just voicing my opinion so please don't make a big thing about it

Wd is a water displacing so there for pulls water and moisture away from the surface

I know that generally in other applications that if you expose an o-ring to normal WD40 it will expand and deform. Whether or not thats true of motorcycle chain o-rings I can't say.

Yamaha says to clean the chain with Kerosene - paraffin in the UK.
