Nice to see some familiar folks here. I came from the FZ6R and FZ1 forums. They're excellent places; here's hoping we can make this just as welcoming, entertaining, and informative.

I was speaking with a nameless Yamaha insider yesterday and he told me there will be as many new models based on the direction the FZ/MT-09 as the market will bear. Expect the next version of all your favorite Yamaha sport models to be a variant of the 3-cyl format the FZ/MT-09 uses. His words...

Pure speculation, but if there is a new FZ1 in the works the FZ8 will be a great way to use up a lot of FZ1 parts that Yamaha might have built ahead. I bet the FZ8 lasts as long as the parts do and then it will fade into the hall of classic Yamahas.

We get the shaft in Canada. Our dollar has been within a few cents of the USD on one side it the other for more than 5 years and we still pay significantly more that United States MSRP on most products. I guess other parts of the world get it even worse, but it's still annoying as all hell.

I think it's cool that it's offset like that, and it's a nice tidy looking package. All aspects of the design seem to be a big step forward for Yamaha.

They could have put gold rims on both color bikes. That would look good.

Those rims just don't work. I found it to be a very odd choice.

Like any production bike, upgrading the suspension will be the biggest "bang for buck" mod, and the best chance of improving the performance in a big way. Because of the affordability of this bike, I predict a wealth of mods becoming available fairly quickly. Exhausts and fuel controllers...
