Well sorry to say I just couldn't get on with the MT09 anymore, I brought a 64 plate with 847 miles on the clock on the 2/6/15 from a local bike shop in very standard trim, that standard the previous owner had left the sticker on the tank and the suspension was still set in bouncy castle mode, so the first thing was to get that suspension stiffened up, this improved the ride no end and enough for road light use, then after 50 miles I just couldn't take the silence anymore and popped a Carbon Akra racing line on it, tweaking the Co's up on thd 3 cylinders as recommended, lastly I put some leversb on and some fork, swinging arm protector bobbins on and that was that,
I managed to do a total of 403 miles on it and have now traded it in for a sports tourer which is a 12 plate Suzuki Hayabusa with 4k on the clock.
Now what's wrong with the MT I here you ask!!!! this is my opinion only, it feels too small for me I like bigger bikes, it feels like it's missing something bigger up front, previous bikes this year of mine was a YZF1000 and a Triumph Speed triple 2011, so that will explain that, yes bigger is heavier blah blah!!
The MT feels cheap, cheaply built, clonky gearbox (until I road the Suzuki home this was far more apparent how bad the MT was, Hayabusa is as smooth as silk you don't even hear a change), gear whine, uncomfortable seat, cheap plastics ie chain guard.
Now the good the engine felt strong and powerful and it's a quick bike ok, there's no denying that fantastic engine, looks the bollox as well, a great looking shape in naked form.
So is there anyone else that couldn't get on with the MT09 also any good Hayabusa forums out there lol
I'll probably get slatted to shit but that's my opinion of a bike I just couldn't get on with. Shit happens on the plus side those Busas have some poke looking for a good remap and a turbo kit
