I asked my dealer about the reflash - im from melbourne australia fyi. But he said the relfash is only available for vin numbers ranging from 001 to 184.. mine is 214. I am arguing with the mechanic saying that I am suffering from the fueling issues, and hopefully he will change his mind and take my bike for a test ride! anyone else had this issue?
I re-read the literature today that was sent out to all Yamaha dealerships and there was NO mention of VIN numbers. The ECU map is for all 2014 bikes only so if u have a 2013 bike the dealer MAY be a twat and not do it.

*****On a side note*****

The dealer HAS to buy the machine from Yamaha UK to do the flash and if they don't it CAN NOT BE DONE!!!
I'm guessing all the people who have been told "this and that" as to why it can't be done are being fobbed off or the dealership are just skin flints and don't want to get the machine to do it....

Had my Bike re-mapped today at Raceways in Fleetwood. Bearing in mind that I had the Dna air filter and G2 Throttle tamer, I considered my bike snatch free and was happy with it. What I was looking for was a smooth roll-on....Well, having had Lee the Raceways mechanic, install and test ride the bike, I then put it through it's paces...I AM BLOWN AWAY...!
The bike is super-smooth and retains it's raw aggressive acceleration. The roll-on in STD and A mode is exactly the same smoothness as the B mode. I couldn't catch the bike out or find fault...to me, it's a different bike....my memories of any snatch are now just a faded memory. Even when i went over rough terrain the bike remained smooth and settled. If you have any Dna filters or G2 Tamers on the bike then my advise would be to leave them on...it makes everything just a touch smoother...this is also the feedback from Lee at Raceways who is a quality rider and mechanic, who has been testing and mapping MT09s without and without after-market filters and Tamers. Anyway, If you can find a quality Yamaha dealer, then I would strongly recommend the upgrade...Whatever you do now is up to you...good luck...(Many thanks to Raceways and staff for your as always professional service)
Nice 1 rob, I presume its the free yamaha flash you've had done?
You mentioned finding a "quality Yamaha dealer" to do the upgrade. I was thinking that once they had the relevant equipment then it would be "painting by numbers" for them, or is there a chance a not so "quality" dealers could mess it up??
Cheers.

Spoke to my 3 closest Yamaha dealers so far and non of them have any plans to flash their demo bikes.

The only hesitation I have with just calling up and booking it in is the fact that some say that Yamaha may be trying to lock out aftermarket tuners with this new flash.

If they did lock it then it would be a no brainer to go with the guy Triple has spoken to, but if they aren't locking it then it would be a no brainer to go get it done for free, my head hurts [emoji55]

My reference to a 'quality' dealer is in relation to one that makes the effort to contact Yamaha and obtain the re-flash and fit it to a demo bike....keeping the customer happy and not just sitting on the sidelines waiting for something to happen....Raceways in Fleetwood continue to deliver. The mechanics say it takes about 15-20 minutes and that it is easy...! This is the FREE mapping from Yamaha that I have had installed. P.S. Haven't noticed any difference to the engine braking, which personally I think is fine and quite like it...each to his/her own....! Hope this helps!

Yes pro-bike have the machine because it can also be used to do the 07 and Bobber as well (all will become apparent as soon as Yamaha release that info lol)!

YES they will do a 2013 bike and YES the ECU will be locked after (hence why it says in the literature that it is done at the customers own discretion and RISK)! They also state that it is not mandatory to get this flash done and if the customer doesn't feel that the bike is too snatchy then definitely DONT get it done. That blew all kinds if whistles to me and the guys at pro-bike..! so if u get this done and u don't like the results or u want to "tweak the ECU at a later date u will need a specialist aka "Simon" to sort it all out for u..!
If u want the Yamaha flash doing and ur struggling to find a dealer to do it let me know and I will help u out...

So if yamaha are saying it's irreversible is that the be all end all or can a 'specialist' reverse it at a later date?

I don't think u can "go backwards" with the flash, y wud u? but it can still be "tweaked" let's say..!

As long as an aftermarket flash can be done on top of it then I'd be happy trying Yamaha's efforts.

I would like to see a dyno of a before and after , might make the bike more sort after if it has original factory ecu setting without locking it.

If thats the case then sweet, as Rip said its a "no brainer" to go with the "free" Yam flash, and if its still not what your looking for then you go with a specialist (aka Simon). I guess we still need this scenario confirmed.

My guess is it'll be a while before that scenario happens to come about.

I telephoned dealer at Bournemouth today - service dept told me that they had only done one re-map so far and had no feedback yet. They also said that their demo bike had been re -mapped and they recommended having a test ride before making a decision, they also emphasised the 'once only' aspect of the re-map. I think I'll take them up on the offer.
